At present, the protection of resources and the environment has become an important task for sustainable development of China's rare earth industry, and to accelerate the R & D and industrialization of the rare earth advanced environmental technologies is the key to accomplish this task, this China will step up the transformation of rare earth enterprises support efforts to promote enterprise development and application of environmental technology. Soupault of Industry and Information Technology Vice Minister at the forum pointed out that currently, China's rare earth industry is the most prominent problem is that there are still many backward technology, resulting in the rare-earth corporate environmental, but off in the rare earth mining, metallurgical separation link. Among them, the Southern Rare Earth Enterprises discharge of ammonia, heavy metal contamination of soil and groundwater, farmland cuts or even crops; north of rare earth enterprises in the light rare earth elements associated with the separation process of mining emit large quantities of toxic and hazardous waste water, waste gas and radioactive waste, treatment is difficult. Jiangxi Ganzhou one region only, due to the rare earth production technology and equipment, backward technology, pollution ecological restoration and management of investment would need 38 billion yuan, more than four times the profits the sum of the Jiangxi Rare Earth Industry in 2010 and 2011.
Soupault said, the next step is one of the priorities of the Rare Earth Industry is to increase support to the transformation. First, greater efforts to eliminate serious pollution of the environment and damage the ecology of backward technology, accelerate the pace of environmental technological innovation, the progressive realization of efficient and clean production, the establishment of resource-saving and environment-friendly, clean and efficient modern enterprise; is to develop green and efficient mining technology, a substantial increase in rare earth recovery, support the development of new flotation reagents and mineral processing equipment, and improve the recovery rates of rare earth, the work of low grade ore and tailings recovery; to increase state funds on the rare earth enterprise technology support, to promote enterprise actively developing new rare earth materials and application technology, vigorously develop the high-tech, high value-added application of rare earth industry, and promote industrial structure optimization and upgrading.
China Rare Earth Industry Association Deputy Secretary-General Wang iron, Lin Donglu, Secretary General of the Chinese Society of Rare Earths, and many other senior RE experts told reporters that China's rare earth industry, environmental technology needs to be ice-breaking, heap leaching to accelerate the elimination of the ionic type rare-earth, straight dip serious damage to the environment and ecology of backward technology.
